The “OOCL SPAIN” (Oriental Spain) is known as the “castle on the sea” and the “king of container ships”. When fully loaded, it can reach the height of 22 floors.
At about 1:00 a.m. on March 24, with a whistleblowing, tugboats helped the “OOCL SPAIN” (OrientalSpain), a ship with a maximum container capacity of 24,188 TEU, to berth at the port of Nansha, Guangzhou. Seven bridge cranes then carried out intense operations. It is the worlds largest container ship made in China, and this is its maiden voyage to Nansha port, refreshing the historical record of mega-ship berthing in Nansha port.
Nansha welcomes the worlds largest container ship
Built by Nantong COSCO KHI Ship Engineering Co. (NACKS), the vessel is the largest container ship in the world, with a length of 399.99 meters, a width of 61.3 meters, a depth of 33.2 meters, a deadweight of 228,000 tons and a deck area equivalent to 3.5 standard soccer fields. When fully loaded, it can reach the height of 22 floors. It is known as the “castle on the sea” and “king of container ships”. The container ship embodies the latest R&D achievements and intelligent means of Chinese shipbuilding enterprises in the field of container ships, and excels in safety, energy saving, environmental protection, and intelligence level.
Nansha Port of Guangzhou Port, where the vessel ” OOCL SPAIN” is docked, ranks first in the container throughput capacity of a single port in South China. It serves as the core port area of Guangzhou Port and the growth pole of shipping and logistics in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Bay Area.
全球最大级别集装箱船靠泊广州南沙港区
3月24日凌晨1时许，随着一声鸣笛，在拖轮的密切配合下，最大载箱量达24188标准箱的“东方西班牙”（OOCL SPAIN）轮靠泊广州港南沙二期集装箱码头，7台桥吊随即开展紧张作业。至此，中国造全球最大级别集装箱船顺利首航南沙港区，刷新了南沙港区超大型船舶靠泊的历史纪录。
“东方西班牙”轮由南通中远海运川崎船舶工程有限公司建造，船长399.99米，型宽61.3米，型深33.2米，载重量达22.8万吨，甲板面积相当于3.5个标准足球场，是目前全球最大级别的集装箱船，满载后可达22层普通住宅的高度，被称为“海上城堡”和“带货之王”，融合了中国造船企业在集装箱船领域最新研发成果及智能化手段，具有安全、节能、环保、智能化程度高等优势。
